Rainy Daze

So, I finished Hunger Games which meant I was able to re-assimilate back into society, which was a great thing because I got to hang out with this handsome guy, my friend Jahlelah's 1 and a half year old boy, Cooper, before they left for San Francisco today.  Jahlelah wasn't feeling very well (she got her wisdom teeth out this week) so I took Cooper on a walk in the stroller.  It is so rainy today so I am very glad I got a chance to get outside as much as I did yesterday!

I have a feeling that it is going to be a very rainy Spring Break, but I'd rather it rain now, while I don't have to do anything than have it rain when I have to go to class.

Tonight is my mom's dance class. I am excited to get out of the house and move my body around!

Tchau!

It seems like these breaks come just in the nick of time...

A whole week of schedulelessness!

Oh the Places You'll Go

visited 15 states (30%)
Create your own visited map of The United States or Free ipad travel guide

These are all the places I have traveled in the U.S. Many of my friends who have studied or traveled abroad say that they come back and realize they haven't traveled around our own country very much. I have been to 15 states, so 30% of the states. I really want to go to Austin, Texas next!

Outside the U.S., I really haven't traveled a lot... yet! A very important 'yet'!

Hunger Games

So,

I was studying (writing my paper - due tomorrow for my Native American literature class) and needed a break.  I decided to visit the little local bookstore across the street and wander around, perhaps flip through some big beautiful photography books.

I thought I had already missed the boat to read Hunger Games.  The movie came out today and I knew I wanted to see it and being that it is finals week, reading for fun seems like an oxymoron.

But, there was the Hunger Games book stacked in its nice castle formation on the book island and I picked up a copy (I didn't know it was a trilogy!!).  The bookstore has a nice two person nook with comfy chairs in a corner of the store so I sat in one, turned it towards the wall, and got lost in this book for an hour and a half.

I was starting to get hungry so I decided I would buy the book and go read it while I ate/sipped on some hazelnut latte.  I went and got in line at the cash register and two people immediately started staring at my book and then asked me where I had found it.  I pointed to the island, but there were no more left!  I got the last one!  Every single one sold while I was sitting in my nice magenta chair in the corner!  I guiltily bought the last one.  Even the clerk asked me where I'd found mine :).

I feel like a very lucky girl right now.  Sometimes life gives you exceptional timing.  Or maybe I should take more credit.  It's a partnership I'm sure.

Well, my last final is tomorrow, my paper isn't done, and I have this book I don't want to put down -  quite a dilemma! I am so excited for Spring Break.  I will be spending the first half of the week in Chico with my family and friends and the last half with Tyson.

I told Ty about my lucky book buying experience and he agreed we should have a date to go see the movie while I'm visiting.  I'm sure to be done with this book in no time at this rate.

If you've read it:  hold off on telling me what you think just yet, but when I'm done I would love to chit chat about how you liked it!

If you haven't read it or think you don't like reading:  try, just try, you just might get as sucked in as I did!

Love yous!

Life's Small Details

When your nail polish hasn't chipped yet :)
Up-close photo of the painting in the living room (pulled out of a dumpster by one of my roommates).  One person's trash is another person's treasure! :)
Our key to the Love Shed
 One plant, so many colors
Sticky weed: most undervalued plant.  Endless fun.  When I was in 5th grade, my friend Jessica and I made bundles of sticky weed and sold it like lemonade at a table outside her house.  We made enough to buy ice-cream cones! (because some guy told us he'd give us $5 to throw it all away, but whaaatever haha).

I'm finally feeling like a normal human being today.  Maybe not normal :), but not sick.

Hooray for my immune system!

Hip HIP HOOORAYYY!

Our Little Visitor

This is Ginger, she's a corgi/bulldog mixed puppy that came to spend the day with us.
She chased that light reflection for about an hour. Melissa's iphone was hitting the sun just right to make the little light spot. Ginger was obsessed.
And then she got tired and took a nap with my roommate Marilyn on the couch.

So cute!

New Favorite Song

I'm still sick, but I think it's getting better. I have my 1st final today so hopefully my head stops hurting enough for me to take this test!

I'm sick :(

Hey lovely people!

I had a great St. Patrick's Day with my roommates yesterday.  We came home after dinner at a burger place (I got the kid's cheeseburger with a side salad - it's only six dollars and fills me right up!).  As soon as we started walking home it began to rain and none of us had anything even close to rain gear.  It was pouring!  We ran home and were soaking wet by the time we finally arrived.  We changed out of our wet clothes and took a nap with the intentions of waking up and going out again to dance.  We all woke up and just wanted to go back to bed :).

I woke up this morning feeling awful!  I really hope I don't have the flu because this is my finals week coming up.

I was all ready to have a photoshoot today with Shelly.  Unfortunately it will have to wait :(.

Have a great Sunday peeps!

I'm wishing I could be taking pictures outside right now, but it is most definitely a rainy day.  Happy Friday though!

Me, Mariamma by Luca Laureati

These are pictures that Luca Loureati took of me (and all the bridesmaids legs) for Jahlelah's wedding.  It was such a fun wedding, and his pictures are beautiful!

My Boy Cooks Me Dinner

Suppa suppa suppa time!

I grew up vegetarian and I had NEVER made meat for myself or even bought it from the grocery store until this weekend.  Tyson made some delicious meals two days in a row with it.  YUM.

Now I'm off to my internship.

Thursday night

Last night Marilyn, Jasmine, and I went downtown.  They ate dinner and since I had already eaten I just hung out and watched them eat haha.

Sorry I've been bad about posting.  I had a big essay due yesterday and my last week of class this quarter is next week so I have been busy.  I'll try to take more pictures this weekend!

Tyson's Spring Break is this coming week, today is his last day of class... for a week!  He'll be be later on this weekend which will be nice.  I am going to make him come to my classes with me because they are so fun and interesting this quarter.

I hope you all have a beautiful Friday!

Kony 2012

Please watch this. This is an amazing video about war lord named Joseph Kony who has been committing horrible crimes against children in Uganda and surrounding countries. It made me tear up. Please spread the word!

Winter Weekend

Agate Beach.  I took such a nice nap here.
Phoebe and Quin having a moment on Agate Beach <3
These are houses from a traditional Yurok Native American Village at Patrick's Point National Forest near Arcata.  The houses are more than half underground!  They are very cool.

 The climb to Ceremonial Rock

The outfit:  American Apparel dress from the flea market, leggings, white socks, and my good old Doc Martens.

Sorry I couldn't get the whole outfit in one image.  The glare wouldn't let me!

 Read up ;)
Homework time with this handsome boy.
